Why we share these stories:
We share these stories not to dwell on pain, but to honor truth, inspire hope, and drive change. Each voice represents a journey — one of loss, survival, strength, and often, new beginnings. Here's why we believe these stories matter
1.Hopeful
Even after the darkest experiences, hope can emerge. We share these stories to honor each survivor’s courage and resilience, showing that freedom and healing are possible. By amplifying their voices, we light the way toward a future free from exploitation.
3. Emotionally Grounded
These are raw, honest stories — difficult to hear, but impossible to ignore. In them, we find shared humanity and strength. They invite us to empathize deeply and respond with compassion.
2. Advocacy-Driven
These testimonies shine a light on injustice and call us to action. They give voice to hidden realities of modern slavery and remind us all of the urgency to stand up, speak out, and end exploitation wherever it exists.
4. Respectful
We tell each story with care, honoring the dignity of those who’ve lived them. Without sensationalism, we present truth — because bearing witness is the first step to building a more just world.

“I convinced my father to sell our farmland to sponsor my migration. He did — and now I’m back with nothing.”

“It all happened so fast. I heard about the opportunity, paid over $3,500, and left. But what I was promised was nothing like what I faced — it was hell.”
“ I was stuck in the scam centers for a year — it was hell. I never imagined I’d make it out alive after all the tele-prisons and abuse. But by God’s grace, I made it home. The support I received through the Siket program changed everything. It gave me not just hope, but strength. Unbelievably, I’m back at work — something I thought I had lost forever. I’ve learned so much through pain, but that small light of support helped me rebuild my life. Thank you, Siket, for standing with me when no one else did. Now, I know what to do — not just for me, but for others like me.” Survivor and Participant, Siket Program at Nigat Global Initiative, March 2025
